A Typical Day
A Day at Allerton Bywater Primary School

Before School

For those early risers, Breakfast Club is available from 7:30am in the school hall. We offer a wide choice of breakfast items and a great range of activities such as sports in the school hall and craft activities.

Our Morning

The school gates open at 8.40am, and classroom doors open to all at 8:45am.

Children in Years 1-6 school start the day with a short burst (15-minute) arithmetic lesson. Doors close promptly at 8:50am when registration is complete.

Registration is followed by either a Reading lesson for KS2 or a Phonics lesson for Reception and KS1.

All classes then have their daily Writing lesson, followed by break time.

After the break, we all have a Maths lesson, followed by lunchtime.

Lunch Time

Lunch is served in several small eating spaces at Allerton Bywater, giving a homelier feel.

We also have 30 minutes to play outside with friends. There are several exciting activities to choose from: activities with our Sports Coach on the school field or in our sports hall, climbing on our Adventure trail or on our ‘Floor is Lava’ area, reading in our living roof reading huts, den building or playing in our mud kitchen in our forest school area.

Our Afternoon

Afternoon lessons are filled with a full range of lessons, from Music lessons with peripatetic teachers to Science investigations!

End of the Day

School finishes at 3:15pm, where pupils can be collected from their classroom doors. Our staff will be on the door at this time to talk to parents and answer any queries.

After School Clubs

For those interested, we run extra-curricular clubs every evening, and clubs cover everything from gymnastics to Dodgeball!

We also offer after-school care from 3:15pm-5:45pm.

Total Weekly Provision

The total weekly provision amounts to 32.5 hours.

Getting to and from school

Walking is definitely a great option to get to and from school.

Alternatively, we have cycle sheds to store bikes and scooters. Children should use only the paths when they are on-site and push vehicles once through the school gates.

Breaktimes

We operate a wet playtime policy whereby children play out whatever the weather is so long as it is safe. Children wear clothing appropriate to the weather, and we recommend raincoats and wellies/boots!
